Update Your Address in the Danish Civil Registration System (CPR)

If you live in Denmark, you have to report a move to the Civil Registration Office.

In most cases, you can report a move via lifeindenmark.borger.dk, but there may be special cases where you need to contact your municipality.

If you have lived in Denmark but no longer do so, it is still important that your address is updated in the Civil Registration System (CPR). If your address is incorrect, you cannot receive your NemKonto activation letter.

If you have left Denmark, you can update your foreign address in the register via lifeindenmark.borger.dk. This requires access to MitID.

If you do not have access to MitID, you must contact the municipality where you last lived and ask them to update your address.

If you have never lived in Denmark but have paid tax in Denmark, the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) has created a tax personal identification number for you.

A tax personal identification number is a CPR-number that you can later use if you move to Denmark and need to be registered as a resident.

In this case, you must contact the Danish Tax Agency to have your foreign address updated in the Civil Registration System (CPR).

I am moving to or from Greenland
You must report a move to the Civil Registration System via borger.dk in order to update your address.

I am moving within Greenland
You must report your move to the municipality in Greenland via https://www.sullissivik.gl/ to update your address.

Please note that the Agency for Digital Government and NemKonto Support cannot change your address in the Danish Civil Registration System (CPR). Only you or your municipality of residence have access to change your address.
