If you are under 18 years old, you must, if possible, and no later than before receiving your first payment or tax refund from a Danish public authority, assign a NemKonto.
If you are 15 years or older, you can use your MitID to access the self-service at nemkonto.dk to assign a NemKonto. You can choose one of your existing accounts in either a Danish or foreign financial institution (e.g. a bank) as your NemKonto.
If you do not have a MitID, you can read more about how to assign a NemKonto here.
A guardian (e.g. a parent) can also assign a NemKonto on behalf of persons under 18 years old. If you, as a guardian, wish to designate a NemKonto in a Danish financial institution, you need to contact the relevant Danish financial institution, and they will assign a NemKonto for you.
If you, as a guardian, wish to assign a NemKonto in a foreign financial institution, you must fill out and submit the following documentation:
- NemKonto registration form for assigning a NemKonto in a foreign financial institution with your signature certified by a notary, lawyer or two witnesses – find the form here.
- Proof of guardianship. If you have MitID, you can access borger.dk and send a printout with the guardianship information as your documentation. If you do not have MitID, you need to contact the Danish Family Court (Familieretshuset). The documentation must be no more than one month old at the time of the NemKonto application.
- Copy of valid ID for the guardian.
The documentation and NemKonto form can be submitted via the NemKonto Support contact form, or via physical mail to:
